Free General Public Ship Tours – Day 4 FLEET WEEK NYC @ Fleet Week New York 

May 26 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Location: Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Brooklyn (in the Redhook Community) and Homeport Pier in Staten Island

Ship tours will be held on Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (Brooklyn) (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.); and Homeport Pier (Staten Island) (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Events are free and open to the public. As a reminder, ship tours will be closed on Pier 88 (Manhattan) today!

NYRR Open Run: Conference House Park @ Visitor Center (in Conference House Park)

Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-led running initiative bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks, across all five boroughs of NYC. All runs are directed by volunteers and are free to all participants. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on the park, but the courses are between 2.5 and 3 miles long. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run and to leave their valuables at home – bag check is not provided. No need to do anything before the run, just show up. Open to all ages, experience levels, walkers, strollers, dogs: All are welcome! This program is in coordination with NYC Parks’ Community Parks Initiative.

Pack Hike With Your Pup @ High Rock Gate (in High Rock Park)

Join us and other dog lovers for a “Pack Hike” in the Greenbelt! It’s a fun and informative way to socialize with your dog while getting the exercise both you and your dog need to stay healthy. Join the Urban Park Rangers during their 40th Anniversary as they hike “over the hill” inside of our parks. This hiking series features some of the steepest hills in NYC Parks. Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots are recommended on these moderate to vigorous hikes. This hike features Mount Moses, a well-known site within Staten Island.

Solar gazing returns to Riverside Park South in front of Pier I Cafe at 70th Street down on the Hudson River waterfront.  Come take in the Sun in a whole new way, with solar telescopes specifically designed to safely look at the Sun.  You’ll see sunspots and prominences under a summer sky.  Goes great with the food at Pier I Cafe!
