The Friends of Mariners Harbor in collaboration with Fidelis Care, NYCID, Port Richmond High School, and Council Member Debi Rose will be holding a Black History Month Event on Saturday, February 16th, from 12pm-4pm at Port Richmond High School.
The purpose of the event is to give the community an opportunity to explore and express their feelings about race, schooling, and police relations. The event will also bridge the gap and foster healthy relationships between the NYPD and community.
The event will start with attendees participating in the NYPD Firearm and Tactics Simulator. The simulator will give participants a glimpse of the dangers and difficulties officers face on the job. Next, there will be a screening of the movie, The Hate U Give. Immediately following the movie, attendees will be served lunch while participating in a restorative community discussion.
