The Staten Island Zoo is happy to introduce our Saturday Zoofari program. We have created six exciting programs for children in PreK through 6th grade. This is a four hour (10am – 2pm) drop off program at the zoo.

Please pack a lunch for the day. There is no refrigeration for the lunches at the zoo so the lunches need to be non-perishable.

You can register for any number of sessions or all six! There is a 15% discount on the total price if you register for all six sessions.

Experience the mysteries and stories of Staten Island in the days of yore. Listen to heart racing tales that took place right in your own backyard!

Each night features a new historic home. Tours leave from the Historical Museum at 9:00pm and 10:00pm and last approximately 40 minutes. Reservations are not required but suggested as each tour is limited to 15 guests.

Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-led running initiative bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks, across all five boroughs of NYC. All runs are directed by volunteers and are free to all participants. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on the park, but the courses are between 2.5 and 3 miles long. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run and to leave their valuables at home – bag check is not provided. No need to do anything before the run, just show up. Open to all ages, experience levels, walkers, strollers, dogs: All are welcome! This program is in coordination with NYC Parks’ Community Parks Initiative.

Note that this is the oldest original Chen-Style Tai Chi, taught by traditional instruction, where each student learns at their own pace and builds up their knowledge bit-by-bit.

Come explore art and develop a better understanding of the spacial relationships within art. We will explore still life using various mediums. We will explore how to take work from the drawing phase into the painting phase using the grid system. We will work using pencil, watercolor and acrylic paint (and maybe some pastels too.) Space Is The Place will be lead by artist Mona Oman who has been studying and working in various art fields for the past 20 years. She considers herself less a teacher and more of a professional artist who has lots of insight to share with your creative explorers. The AAA began its weekly observing sessions on the High Line on August 25th, 2009. We’ve gone up every week since then, except for a break during the winter months of November through March, and the inevitable cancellations due to overcast skies.

The AAA observes on the High Line, near 14th street, every Tuesday evening, from the beginning of April through the end of October.
