Special Screening for Staten Island: “The Brainwashing of My Dad”

On March 9th @ 7:30pm, Aspect Ratio Film Festival will host Jen Senko’s award-winning and critically acclaimed documentary film, THE BRAINWASHING OF MY DAD, will be screening at ETG Book Store Café located at 208 Bay Street.

THE BRAINWASHING OF MY DAD (TBOMD) examines the rise and powerful influence of right-wing media through the lens of director Jen Senko’s father. Formerly an open-minded, non-political Democrat, he became an angry, radicalized right-wing fanatic after his discovery of Talk Radio on a lengthened commute to work, a personality shift which Senko reports is happening in families across America.

Featuring expert interviews with Noam Chomsky, David Brock, Jeff Cohen, George Lakoff, Claire Connor, Dr. Kathleen Taylor, Frank Luntz and others, TBOMD pulls back the curtain to expose the tools and tricks of the wizards behind the right-wing media phenomenon, revealing its chilling influence on our national discourse.

This phenomenon points directly to the candidacy of Donald Trump, whose campaign is now run by right-wing media’s Breitbart host, Stephen Bannon: the right-wing now has its own candidate to whom it is delivering its rabid followers.

THE BRAINWASHING OF MY DAD is from JSenko Productions and Cinco Dedos Peliculas. The documentary film is written, produced, and directed by Jen Senko, narrated by Senko and Matthew Modine (FULL METAL JACKET, Netflix’s STRANGER THINGS), produced by Adam Rackoff and Modine, and features animation by Academy Award nominee Bill Plympton. The film is executive produced by Ryan Smith and Jodie Evans. It is the recipient of two distinguished film grants by Roy W. Dean and the Bertha Foundation. The feature length film touches such a nerve it has already won the Award of Excellence from IMPACT DOCS and Award of Merit Special Mention from The Accolade Global Competition. The film’s non-profit fiscal sponsor is Women Make Movies.
