NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Announces 2018-19 Track & Field Schedule

NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex unveils the 2018-2019 track and field schedule which features prestigious meets on a local, state and national level. Anchored by the 2019 USATF Indoor National Championships, which takes place on Friday, February 22 through Sunday, February 24, this season’s schedule is jam-packed with an array of exciting events. This year’s meet schedule starts with the Staten Island High School Track & Field Association Invitational on Saturday, December 1. On Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16, Ocean Breeze hosts the 65th annual Bishop Loughlin Games, the oldest and largest high school meet in the country.
“We are thrilled to announce such a robust schedule for the 2018-19 indoor track & field season,” said Ocean Breeze Park Administrator Lauren Primerano. “We are proud to be the home for both the USA Track & Field Youth and Open National Championships. It’s a pleasure to host these events, which gives our local athletes a home field advantage.”
As part of our line-up this year, we will be hosting the New York State High School Championships and the USATF Hershey National Youth Championships. The 2018 Gatorade National Female Athlete of the Year, Katelyn Tuohy competed in last year’s event, highlighting the best high school athletes in the state. Ocean Breeze has been home to the USATF Hershey National Youth Championships since 2015, which features the best youth athletes from all over the country.
The Ocean Breeze “BIG3” Elite High School Series begins on Saturday, December 30 with the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival. The Ocean Breeze Freedom Games are slated for Saturday, January 5 & Sunday, January 6. The third meet of the “BIG3,” the Ocean Breeze Invitational takes place on Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27. The “BIG3” is a series comprised of three elite level high school meets designed with the athlete in mind.
Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will also host many collegiate events throughout the 2018-19 campaign, including the Wagner College Shootout & Invitational, St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite, and University at Albany Great Dane Classic, the NYC Gotham Cup, Metropolitan Championships,  Northeast Conference Championships, East Coast Conference and the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
In addition to these meets, Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex will host free community programs, including the Ocean Breeze Elite Performance Track & Field Clinics and our popular Mile Mania Series. Designed with the community in mind, the 2018-19 Track & Field Schedule offers something for everyone.

NYC Parks’ Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is a 135,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art indoor track and field facility in Staten Island. The first facility in the United States to be recognized as a certified International Association of Athletics Federations facility, Ocean Breeze has hosted 14 major championships, including three major national competitions since opening in 2015. The complex also serves as a community resource, offering recreational and athletic amenities to Staten Islanders.
