Fourth of July Holiday Information

All government offices, including the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and courts, are closed on Wednesday, July 4th for Independence Day. There is no mail delivery.

There is no Garbage, Organics, or Recycling collection on Wednesday, July 4.

If Wednesday is your regular organics or garbage collection day, place your items curbside after 4 PM on Wednesday evening.

     • Organics will be collected on Thursday, July 5.

• Garbage will be collected beginning Thursday, July 5. In some areas, your garbage may not be picked up until your next collection day.If Wednesday is your regular recycling day, place your items curbside on Tuesday, July 10 after 4 PM for collection beginning Wednesday, July 11.

The Staten Island Ferry runs on a holiday schedule. 30-minute service will be provided from 12 AM to 4 PM. From 4 PM through 7:30 PM, 20-minute service will be provided. The last boat before the fireworks will depart from both terminals at 7:30 PM. Service will then be suspended from 8 PM to 10 PM. 30-minute service resumes at 10 PM from both terminals.
