2019 DSNY Holiday Calendar

DSNY residential trash and recycling collections are suspended on the following dates in 2019:

  • Monday, January 21, 2019 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
  • Monday, February 18, 2019 (President’ Day)
  • Monday, May 27, 2019 (Memorial Day)
  • Monday, September 2, 2019 (Labor Day)
  • Monday, October 14, 2019 (Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day)
  • Monday, November 11, 2019 (Veterans Day)
  • Wednesday, December 25, 2019 (Christmas Day)

Garbage and recycling should not be placed out for collection on days when DSNY residential collection is suspended.

No Garbage, Recycling or Organic Collection, nor Street Cleaning on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2019

The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that in observance of Memorial Day, there will be no garbage, recycling, or organics collection, nor street cleaning on Monday, May 27, 2019.

  • Residents who normally receive Monday trash and organics collection should place their material out at curbside after 4 p.m. on Monday, May 27 for collection.
  • Residents who normally receive Monday recycling collection should place their material out at curbside after 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 for collection on Monday, June 3.

Additionally, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of the holiday.

To help provide city residents with Sanitation-related service reminders, updates, and special event schedules, the New York City Department of Sanitation has launched DSNY Info, its smartphone and tablet app. The app also includes tips to reduce, reuse and recycle, making it easier for New Yorkers send zero waste to landfills by 2030. The free app is available for both iOS and Android operating systems and can be found by searching DSNY Info in the Apple App and Google Play stores.
